Melbourne Real Estate Agent Rankings

The Melbourne real estate rankings are in for December and despite a cooling property market, some real estate agents are not very good at quoting prices accurately.

Especially in comparison to their northern neighbours where new stricter underquoting laws are now in force.

Consumer Affairs Minister Jane Garrett recently announced that six Victorian real estate agencies were under investigation for underquoting.

Minister Garrett also announced in August 2015 a review of the Consumer Property Acts.

“This review is long overdue. Each of these acts affect the way people buy and sell property, and that has changed significantly over the past 50 years” said the Minister.

Consumer Affairs Victoria is conducting the review, focusing on:

  • the sale of land and real estate transactions in Victoria
  • the management, powers and functions of owners corporations
  • licensed professionals who assist with the sale of land and real estate transactions, and professional owners corporations managers.

“Bringing these acts together, under the banner of a single review, means the Government can comprehensively consider areas of tension between the Acts and any inconsistency and duplication” said Minister Garrett.
